Nvidia is reportedly in discussions to invest as much as $10 billion in Anthropic as the artificial intelligence company explores a potential initial public offering, Reuters reported on Saturday, citing people familiar with the talks.
Anthropic is seeking to raise up to $100 billion in the offering, according to the report. The transaction could value the company at approximately $2 trillion, potentially placing it among the largest IPOs ever.
Terms remain under discussion
The negotiations are confidential and ongoing, meaning the proposed investment, fundraising target and valuation could all change. Nvidia’s participation would position the chipmaker as an early strategic backer of Anthropic while potentially deepening its relationship with a major customer.
Neither company had publicly confirmed the discussions at the time of the report. Reuters said Anthropic declined to comment, while Nvidia had not responded to a request for comment.
Nvidia expands its AI footprint
The potential Anthropic investment would add to Nvidia’s broader push beyond its core chip business. The company has increasingly sought exposure across artificial intelligence hardware, software and developer tools as demand for AI infrastructure continues to reshape the technology industry.
