Payward, the parent company of Kraken, has filed to offer perpetual futures to eligible U.S. traders through Bitnomial, a CFTC-registered Designated Contract Market. The proposed contracts would cover Bitcoin, Ether, Solana, XRP and Cardano.
The products are not available for trading yet. The filing must first pass a 30-day regulatory self-certification review, meaning the proposed launch remains subject to the applicable process and any issues raised during that period.
A regulated route for perpetual futures
Perpetual futures are derivatives contracts without a fixed expiry date. Crypto traders commonly use them for leveraged positions, hedging, market-making and gaining directional exposure. They account for a significant share of global crypto derivatives activity, while access to comparable products in the United States has historically been more limited.
Routing the contracts through Bitnomial would place the proposed products within a regulated market structure rather than offering them through an offshore venue. That framework determines eligibility, listing standards, surveillance requirements and the disclosures provided to traders.
Bitcoin and Ether joined by three major altcoins
Bitcoin and Ether are included alongside Solana, XRP and Cardano. If approved and launched, the broader product lineup could give eligible U.S. market participants regulated perpetual exposure to several large-cap crypto assets, rather than limiting access to the two largest networks.
For now, Payward’s filing represents a proposal rather than a live trading service. The outcome of the self-certification review and the eventual availability of the contracts will determine whether the planned products move into operation.
