Avalanche’s AVAX token has risen nearly 50% in a week, reaching an eight-month high of $10.82 on Sunday as new institutional activity around tokenized assets revived demand for the network.
Much of the renewed attention centers on potential financial-market applications. Intercontinental Exchange, the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, has reportedly spent about a year testing Avalanche while exploring infrastructure for round-the-clock trading in tokenized U.S. stocks and exchange-traded funds. ICE has not selected Avalanche or announced a commercial partnership, although Ava Labs President Charley Cooper has said the company remains actively engaged with the network.
Institutional projects expand on Avalanche
New York Life Investment Management has also announced plans to launch its first tokenized fund on Avalanche through Centrifuge. The fund is expected to place the firm’s U.S. High Yield Corporate Bond Strategy onchain, giving eligible investors exposure linked to high-yield corporate debt.
Other financial institutions are extending their involvement with the network. Aave is developing an institutional real-world asset lending market on Avalanche, while Paxos has added support for AVAX and USDC. Asset manager Janus Henderson has joined the network as a validator, adding to Avalanche’s institutional profile.
Together, the initiatives position Avalanche as a potential platform for tokenized funds, credit products and other real-world assets, although the reported ICE testing has not yet resulted in a confirmed commercial agreement.
Helicon upgrade to shorten staking period
AVAX may receive another catalyst from Avalanche’s Helicon upgrade, scheduled for Sept. 22. The update is set to reduce the minimum staking duration from 14 days to 48 hours, potentially making participation more flexible for validators and other network participants.
Helicon will also revise validator requirements and reward structures. The effect on network participation will depend on how validators respond to the new economics, but the shorter commitment period could lower the time barrier to staking.
Technical outlook points to $19-$20
From a technical perspective, AVAX has rebounded from the $5.80-$6.50 area, a historical support zone, and has moved above its 20-week exponential moving average near $7.97. The recovery is taking place inside a broad falling-wedge pattern that has formed since the token’s 2021 peak.
A sustained breakout from the pattern could place the next major resistance area between $19 and $20. That zone aligns with the wedge’s descending upper trendline and the 0.236 Fibonacci retracement level near $19.86. A move from roughly $10.50 to that range would represent an estimated gain of 85% to 90%.
Before reaching that target, AVAX must clear resistance around its 50-week exponential moving average. A rejection there could send the token back toward lower support. The recovery thesis would be weakened by a decisive break below the wedge’s lower trendline and the $5.80 level, while continued strength above the reclaimed 20-week average would keep the bullish setup intact.
