KuCoin has launched KCUSD, a new yield product designed to let eligible customers earn returns on selected stablecoin balances while retaining exposure to those assets. The product is available to eligible retail, high-net-worth and institutional users.
Subscriptions can initially be made with as little as 1 USDT, USDC or USDG. KuCoin said KCUSD will offer a dynamic gross annual percentage rate of up to 4%, with returns credited daily and automatically added to users’ balances. This allows earnings to compound without manual reinvestment.
Daily returns on stablecoin balances
The exchange said KCUSD has no subscription fee, while redemptions will be processed in the same asset used for the subscription. During the initial launch period, eligible customers using qualifying new funds may also receive a promotional APR of up to 6%, according to KuCoin.
KuCoin is positioning the product as a way to put otherwise idle stablecoins to work. Traders and institutions often keep substantial balances available for margin requirements, market opportunities or liquidity management, but those funds may not generate returns while held in trading accounts. Moving them into separate staking or yield products can, however, reduce their immediate trading utility.
Planned expansion into collateral and trading
The company said it intends to expand KCUSD’s functionality beyond yield generation by integrating it with collateral and margin use. The planned development is aimed at reducing the trade-off between earning on stablecoins and maintaining access to capital for trading.
KuCoin CEO BC Wong said the launch reflects the company’s view that digital-asset infrastructure should address both liquidity and the efficiency of capital deployment. KuCoin described KCUSD as an infrastructure layer that could connect yield, liquidity and risk management across its ecosystem, with collateral and trading applications expected to follow the initial yield-focused rollout.
